The Uncreative Singaporeans

 

 

Excerpts from “Workers here diligent but lack creativity: Survey”, by ELGIN TOH, in THE STRAITS TIME, Friday, 14 July 2006

 

 

RELIABLE, diligent and productive, but lacking in creativity and leadership.

 

This is the perception some bosses have of Singaporean employees, according to a survey of 61 firms here which together employ a total of 6,300 workers.

 

The Singapore Workforce Survey 2006 [was] released yesterday [Thursday, 13 July 2006] by the Singapore Human Resources Institute (SHRI) ….

 

 

… While 77 per cent of the firms [surveyed] found their employees were hardworking, only 20 per cent said they were creative and able to think out of the box. Also, 61 per cent said their employees were “good team players”, but only 35 per cent agreed they were “good leaders”.
